I’m glad I grew up on a diet of Hip Hop. I feel it shaped part of me and gave me the ability to question certain things that have presented themselves through life’s journey. I watched BDP drop albums on a yearly basis and never straying from relevant topics, Public Enemy tearing down rock shows while still bringing their message, NWA showing the world gang life in LA and Compton, etc. Hip Hop was like an unedited news report on social problems. It gave a voice to the voiceless.
Hip Hop had enemies too, they wanted it shut down. Delores Tucker etc.
Now in America you have unmanned drones circling your cities, the NSA reading your texts, wars for oil and lithium, your government sends your money to Israel to they can carry on where the German Nazis left off and what does Hip Hop give us…. Songs about possessions and skinny jeans.
Where are Hip Hops enemies now, they’re rapping.
